Located in glamorous lobby of The Hollywood Roosevelt, The Barish is an Italian steakhouse restaurant by Michelin Star and James Beard Award Winner Nancy Silverton. Inspired by Silverton's European family and farming roots, this stunning Hollywood restaurant showcases a rustic menu of simply grilled steaks, fish and poultry, and the seasonal local flavors of California. Centered around an open fire, the restaurant's warm, modern design evokes the Italian countryside with a modern LA vibe.
A Nancy Silverton Concept
Tucked in the corner of the landmarked lobby of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, The Barish is Nancy Silverton's first new restaurant since the opening of chi SPACCA in 2013.
The Barish takes its name from Silverton's paternal grandmother's family-Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe who settled in Saskatchewan in the late 1800s and raised Angus cattle and Hampshire sheep on a homestead. The rustic menu reflects her humble roots.
Nodding to the classic American steakhouses of the 19th Century, the menu features prime cuts of beef and dry-aged steaks with sauces and sides. Inspired by summers spent cooking over open fires in Italy, steaks, fish and poultry are simply grilled over the wood fire, and salads and accompaniments are infused with the California-Italian flavors for which Silverton is famous.

Designed by Los Angeles-based Nickey Kehoe Studio, the 110-seat dining room is characterized by a central wood-fire hearth. The renovated space preserves The Roosevelt's Spanish Colonial Revival details, with modern furnishings inspired by the Italian countryside where Silverton spends summers cooking over an open fire.
Silverton sourced many tabletop pieces at flea markets in Europe; the chargers on which large-format meat is served were hand-painted by a Tuscan ceramicist best known for the plateware at Dario Cecchini's Antica Macelleria.
Service uniforms were designed by Mary Ping, an American fashion designer who also designed the uniforms for La Mercerie at Roman and Williams Guild in New York City.
